  Food was spot on, service was almost too keen! Great atmosphere on a Friday evening. (Not much choice but very accommodating for Vegens :) )

  Good beer including 3 real ales, not all the 'usual' ones so worth visiting for that alone but really food oriented.
  The service is good (friendly + reasonably quick) and the more expensive menu selections (£15ish main course) are good value but the cheaper options e.g. ploughman's are not generous on key aspect like too small portion of cheese!

  Well, I do not know why google have been asking me every day for a week to write a review. It seems they wont leave me alone until I do. I live up near Durham, and have not been down South for a couple of years now. I have never in my life been to Hitchin. But if I do, I shall visit the Highlander. Good enough? :)
